The textures
of life
Angela Zesiger, Rebar 3 and 4, ceramic, summer of 2016
I have been
told that I have a fascination with texture.
I believe that to be true. Ever since
I can remember I liked the feel of different fabrics and the edge of the
fabric. As a child I would rub fabric
with my fingers. Now I still like the feel of certain fabrics and the hem of
clothing. I had an instructor this
summer bring my fascination into light about how it shows up in my artwork. He told me a lot about myself that I had not
noticed. He talked about my love of texture and how it showed up in most of my
pieces. He also talked about how I am a
very visual learner.

A close up of the texture of rebar 7
I
made 4 pieces of ceramics this fall. They all had the texture of rebar. The
texture that the rebar make is what I feel represents the scars from my divorce. Sometimes the scars are more noticeable and sometimes you can't see them at all.
The scars are healing.
